My Dad always said “Put your nose to the grindstone – there’s no such thing as a free lunch” – so true, isn’t it?  To have anything worthwhile, you need to work for it with a sharp eye on the future. When my awesome Dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s we were all devastated – then the realization came that he didn’t believe in having a long term care policy because he believe Alzheimer’s would never happen to him.

Then horrible realization set in. The nursing home care Dad needed would cost $6,400 a month. How would Mom be able to pay that and be left with anything for her Golden Years? He couldn’t stay at home. As with about half of all Alzheimer’s sufferers, he had turned extremely violent. It was an impossible situation.

To qualify for Medicaid, Dad would need to have less than $2,000 in qualified assets. His entire Social Security check would go to Medicaid as well. All Mom would be left with was her Social Security, the house, a car and a lifetime lump sum of only $109,570 while she was still living.

How could she live on that??  Her real estate taxes alone are over $7,000 per year. Along with the need to pay for utilities, food, home repairs, et cetera, her situation was unworkable, adding to the scenario the fact that she had had one heart attack.

I put my nose to the grindstone and left no stone unturned. Through an elder law attorney, I found Cheryl. What a God Send!!!  She was compassionate, very knowledgeable, reassuring and she had solutions to our dilemma.  Mom would not lose her (and Dad’s) nest egg after all. Cheryl showed us how to protect the assets and still qualify for Medicaid.  The sun shone again.

Leave no stone unturned, get in touch with Cheryl. You’ll be very glad you did.

“When our mother’s health took a turn for the worse we needed to understand how we could best provide for her needs and make sure she received her appropriate Medicaid benefits. But researching and understanding the Medicaid policies proved a formidable task without expert help.  From the moment we contacted Cheryl Fletcher she was able to explain complicated and sometimes changing policies and benefits, and steer us to the best solutions for our family.  Cheryl is extremely knowledgeable, professional, and helpful, just the kind of expert help a family needs when important decisions need to be made.”
